Teresa Foley

Principal Occupational Therapist

I qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 2008. I have worked with children for all of my career

I have been fortunate to develop a high level of specialism as a Paediatric Occupational Therapist, working in both Ireland and Australia. I have several years of experience working with children who have Autism Spectrum Disorder and Developmental Delays. For the past 6 years I have developed specialist skills in disability, feeding and sleep difficulties.

My love of working with infants and toddlers led me to complete postgraduate training and develop specialist skills in working with this age group. I have also trained in infant mental health and I love to empower parents to connect with their beautiful babies.

I am also trained in Sensory Integration, Autism diagnosis (ADOS training) and Autism intervention (Floortime/DIR model). My clinical experience to date has allowed me to develop specialisms in physical disability, feeding difficulties, sleep issues and Dyspraxia/Developmental Coordination Disorder.

I am a mum to two little boys. I know first-hand what a life-changing experience parenthood is; but how challenging and anxiety-provoking it can be at times. We want these magical little people to experience all that life can offer. When circumstances, illness or diagnoses threaten this, it can be a lonely and scary place to be. I am passionate about helping children and their families reach their full potential, in a child-centred and inclusive way.

In the past year, I have qualified as a Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and a Licensed Sleep Practitioner.

I am a guest lecturer in Occupational Therapy for children at Trinity College Dublin and University College Dublin. I have published articles on baby development for www.everymum.ie and work as an expert judge for the National Parenting Product Awards.
